Creating and Designing
As a former educator, one of the greatest gifts I had to offer my students and others was my passion. Passion has guided and ignited me as a teacher and educator over the last 39 years. The love I had and continue to have for my work as an educator helped me grow, connect, take risks, and create and design learning opportunities for my students.
So here I am a retired teacher, exploring another passion. My passion for knitting has helped me grow as a fiber artist, take risks, and begin to think about how I can create and design utilitarian, reusable products, that help support the idea of sustainability.
I am creating dishcloths, cleaning cloths, children's hats, and market bags. These products are made from 100% cotton yarn and are very utilitarian. I choose bright, bold colors and use almost all of my yarn scraps. This is one of the reasons why some of my market bags are multicolored.
Creating and designing with my imagination and my hands allows me to create and make design alterations that help develop my products into things I hope people will find useful and enjoyable.
I have included a few photos in this post of some of my products. Please feel free to reach out to me via email(you can sign up) or on Instagram: IslandKnitterinvt
